Summary
Iko Koishikawa wonders why Ai Tennoji and Tokimaru must argue at the top of a torii, but as soon as they get down, Ai explains to Iko and Teru Momijiyama that she wanted to see the world, however, her village would not let her go. She tells Tokimaru to leave, but he refuses. Teru is curious about shinobi, to which she says that they protected the world from the shadows since ancient times, but she can't understand why they must remain hidden.
Ai praises her sword for helping her, and she introduces it to them: it is a sword called Purity. Teru thinks it's pretty, so Ai let it on her hands for her to see. Ai explains that shinobi fight putting their hearts into their blades, and then takes it back. Since Teru touched the sword, Ai seems to know everything about her as the sword read her heart. She also knows that Teru is the hero she has been searching for.
Ai reveals to them a scar in her chest, a scar she got when she was young and that affects her health to this day. She tells them she felt a dark heart and asks Teru's help to erase that evil. Tokimaru is immediately against it, as she didn't have anyone to protect her, the village was worried with her, and she had no place to stay in. Ai, however, takes Teru's hand and tells him she would be staying in her house.
