“ | It's not that they were confident enough to cosplay. These people, you could say, are all outcasts of society. These costumes gave them the courage they needed...to star having faith in themselves. Us superheroes are not the only ones...with the tools we need...to transform our feelings to power. | ” |
— L'Arc Materia Renoir about their friends to Shy |

Summary
L'Arc Materia Renoir suddenly visit Teru Momijiyama and invites her to a cosplay event in France. Teru is embarrassed with the clothes she is wearing, but L'arc justify by telling her they are cosplaying. The Japanese girl is, actually, rather uninterested in manga and anime, but immediately recognizes cosplays from horror movies. Her unique taste fascinates L'arc.
L'arc bring attention to a bulky man cosplaying as Shy. His name is Francis, a friend of L'arc, and he is delighted to meet Teru. As he wishes a good convention to both of them, L'arc and Teru enjoy the event for a bit, she seems surprised by how French people are unashamed to cosplay in public. L'arc show she is wrong by how Francis, a professional nurse, treats a young woman who had collapsed. They explain to her that it was her hero persona who helped him come out of his shell and fight depression. They also reveal other three friends of theirs that also improved themselves through cosplaying.

L'arc's confidence.
Just then, L'arc is called to perform their duty at the convent as France's hero. Before they go, Teru asks whether they had something that gave them courage. L'arc replies by telling her that maybe they have always been a hero. As they transform and go into stage, they think about the incentive they received when younger by someone important. After the event, Teru tells them she had fun and, as this was a "date", L'arc leaves after giving her a present.
It is, actually, just a silly prank.
