"Hero's High" (ヒーローズ・ハイ Hīrōzu Hai?) is the first episode of the second season, and thirteenth overall of the SHY anime series.

Summary

Before Teru Momijiyama leaves to exercise, N. Villio asks her to bring some tofu, to which she complies. Somewhere else, in a heroless country that suffered from a flood, Black Cross' staff and volunteers help the victims. Naturally, Piltz Dunant is also there, and she calls Davie Wonder John to ask for more budget. Meanwhile, in England, Davie himself tells his manager to not only transfer his money to Black Cross' fund banks, but to also call his friends to donate. In Russia, Pepesha Andreanova leaves a shop after donating to Black Cross, and arranges to have drinks with some friends. In China, Ming Ming Li tells his brothers to leave first so he could train a little more. In the United States, Adam Rockwell interrupts his training to give rescue classes to some children.

After running a little bit, Teru has no energy left and can't even stand. She receives a message from Iko Koishikawa saying that her little brother has bought some merch of Shy, which surprises her, but a careless child is about to get hit by a truck. Back at the flood scenario, Piltz finishes treating a survivor while Stardust is watching, and is about to save another, however, the construction is about to fall down. In China, Ming Ming's lunch is stolen by a monkey, and a rock is about to fall on it. In Russia, while Pepesha is drinking, she overhears that a robbery is happening nearby. In the United States, Adam hears from his subordinate that a bus has been kidnapped.

The five heroes transform to deal with their respective problems: Lady Black saves the civilian, while Stardust protects them, Mian Long destroys the rock and saves the monkey, Spirit stops the robbery, Century stops the kidnapping, and Shy saves the careless child. A young reporter witnesses this last rescue and seems curious. Teru finally arrives at home after all this, but forgot to bring the tofu N. Villio asked for.

Tojiko Asuka is the reporter that witnessed Shy saving a child, so she asked to interview the hero since she was having problems with motivation and was unable write a good article. N. Villio accepted the request in Shy's behalf, and they are, some days later, in a cafeteria for this end. Tojiko struggles to get valuable answers from Shy for her article, and she begins to notice they are more similar than she initially thought. Shy surprises her by asking why she became a reporter, and as Tojiko is unable to answer at first, the hero reveals that she noticed her torn, although well cared notebook, thus she must value her work.

Her words remind Tojiko of her grandmother, who would encourage her to become a reporter, and even though she thinks lowly of her own work, Shy thinks otherwise. Feeling motivated, Tojiko makes more questions for the hero. Later, at her agency, her superior is intrigued, but satisfied by Tojiko's energy. The interview is released some weeks later, and Teru is extremely embarrassed to even let Iko read it. At the Space HQ, Unilord wonders about the Amarariruku's recent inactivity.

It so happens Doki Baragaki also read the interview and is enraged by it. Stigma states they shouldn't allow heroes to keep on existing.

Meanwhile, a girl with a sword is traveling by train to meet Shy.

Anime & Manga Differences

  • The first half of the episode is adapted from Chapter 83, which happens way after Utsuro Karakururi's arc. In the anime, its events happen in parallel to Chapter 31's.
  • An additional scene of the Amarariruku reading Shy's interview, and Ai arriving in Teru's town, is included in the anime.
