“ | People may call me a hero now... The source of my love will forever stay the same. Since the day you gave it to me, forever... It will never change... It will always be you, Mama. | ” |
— Pepesha Andreanova's monologue about Letana Andreanova in "Dear Mama" |
Pepesha Andreanova (ペペシャ=アンドレアノワ Pepesha Andoreanowa?), better known as Spirit (スピリッツ Supirittsu?), is Russia's Hero and Shy's mentor and friend.
Appearance
Pepesha is a tall, beautiful woman in her late twenties with fair complexion. She has long, wavy blonde hair with spiky bangs and her fringe is divided in three: some locks stay in front of her face just above her nose and others emoldurate her round face by each side of her head. She also has big, mesmerizing, bright blue eyes and blond eyelashes. The Russian Hero is almost always seen drunk and, as such, she also always has a relaxed expression of flushed cheeks.
As Spirit, she wears a black bodysuit underneath a white fluffy turtleneck blue shirt with matching shorts, utility belt, white gloves and mid-sized boots of the same color with platform and black laces, in addition to her own pair of Heart-Shift Bracelets with blue lines on her wrists.
Personality
She is well known as an alcoholic and is usually seen drunk. It is revealed, however, that she drinks due to her mother's influence, who also drank to show more emotions to her daughter.[4] According to Natalia, Pepesha was quite quiet when she was younger, just like her mother.[5] Pepesha, too, becomes more relaxed when drinking, and she herself points out to Teru that she wouldn't recognize her sober.[6] Despite all this, independent of her identity at the moment, she showed herself as an extremely reliable person even if she doesn't seem like that. She is a great hero that Shy has her expectations on and, as shown many times, Spirits is always open to give her advice just like an older sister.
Pepesha is very empathetic and loves to help people, even though she knows herself that she can't save everyone and told this to Shy when she was afraid of social reprisal due to not saving Iko Koishikawa properly in the past.[7] Spirit is also very protective of Teru and can become impulsive if she sees her in danger, as seen when Stardust started beating her up.[8] She is also very open about what she thinks of people as when she stated that she "hates Stardust's guts."[9]
Equipment
Heart-Shift Bracelets (
- Smoke (ふわふわ Fuwa Fuwa?): Through her bracelets, Spirit is able to turn into smoke, thus becoming intangible, as no physical attack can harm her in this state.
- Gas Cannon (ふわふわ
砲 Fuwa Fuwa-hō?): Spirit concentrates a mass of highly compressed air in her palms and releases it against her opponents. It was first used against Keheheh Kekerakera, and its strength was enough to send her flying.[10] It is Spirit's signature technique.

- In regards to her character, Mamiko Noto commented:
“ | My name is Mamiko Noto and I will be playing the role of Spirit. Spirit is one of the heroes in this work, and is a fluffy older sister who loves alcohol. I will start off by playing the role of watching over the main character, Shy. I got a lot of power from the original work. It warms my heart, makes me feel warm at times, makes me laugh, and makes my soul burst out, and so on. Above all, I can't help but be moved by the main character, Shy, who keeps pushing forward. In order to bring out the energy and dynamism of the original work to the fullest, everyone at the post-recording site put their best effort into their respective plays and layered them on top of each other. I'm sure it will be a wonderful animation!! I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone has carefully put together. Please look forward to the broadcast of SHY! | ” |
