Piltz Dunant (ピルツ・デュナン Pirutsu Dunan?), better known as Lady Black (レディ・ブラック Redi Burakku?), is a nursing student, and Switzerland's Hero. She is also a nurse at Black Cross's Medical Department.

Appearance

Piltz is a relatively short girl with fair skin, medium-length dark hair which is commonly tied in small low ponytails over her shoulders, and green eyes. She lost both her legs in an accident and uses prosthetics instead.[5]

As Lady Black, her hair grows longer, tied in twintails by two black and white pointed up accessories with green insides, much like her hair, and a black visor. She wears a white buttoned sleeveless shirt and a small black tie, a frilly skirt of the same color held up by a utility belt, high black stockings and boots.

While using Scar Transformation, Lady Black's hair fades to a lighter color, and the interior of her Heart-Shift Bracelet turns black. She wears a white sleeveless dress that’s divided into three parts at the bottom and has black stripes and black buttons. At her waist, she wears a black and white utility belt that glows cyan at the sides. On her head, she wears a white nurse cap with a black cross in the center, and on the sides of her head, she wears white circular triangle accessories that are decorated with black triangular patterns and hollowed out circles that radiate a cyan color. The bottom half of her outfit includes white socks, which are worn underneath black prosthetic legs with cyan and white glowing circles at her knees. Also, she adorns white gloves with black markings and a white mask.

Personality

Steadfast in demeanor, Lady Black is quite serious about her job, to the point of constantly claiming that Teru Momijiyama was unfitting to be a Hero.[6] Harsh on her words, Doctor Schwartz says it's just her way of pushing Shy down the right path,[7] but it doesn't change the fact that she's forceful.

She also seems surprised when Teru says she doesn't know her,[8] not even after her introduction,[9] and is also annoyed when she doesn't recognize her in her civilian appearance.[10] However, when she deems it necessary, she can behave in a more friendly manner, as when he helped Chihiro Nagata on her climb, but at the same time she always mocked Teru for her lack of stamina to accompany them.[11]

Abilities

Enhanced Stamina: As a result of several mountain climbs in order to get used to her prosthetics,[12] even in her civilian identity, Piltz, she has enhanced stamina, being able to climb a mountain running without getting tired.

Equipment

Heart Conversion Bracelets (転 (てん) 心 (しん) 輪 (りん) Tenshinrin?): As any Hero, Piltz has possession of a pair of bracelets which syncronizes her Heart spirit into power. She can transform into her Hero form, Lady Black, through them and they also allow her to hear other languages as her own language and also comunicate with people from other countries. She can also use her unique ability with them. Lady Black can also comunicate with other heroes through them.

  • Healing (治 (ち) 癒 (ゆ) Chiyu?):[13] Lady Black is able to heal other people, a result of her selfless personality. She was able to heal all of Teru's injuries with ease.[13] She is also able to heal chronic pain, as when she did with Chihiro Nagata's back pain.[14]

Black Bandage (黒き絆 (ブラック・バンデージ) Burakku Bandēji?): As Lady Black, she has a supply of a special-type of bandages colored black created for medical purposes. Black Bandages are more resistent and durable than normal bandages, presumably for more efficient treatment. However, this specific feature allows Lady Black to improvise and utilize it as a more offensive weapon, or a very useful tool for immobilizing.

  • Scar Transformation: During her fight with Stigma, Lady Black used the scars from her past to gain new powers and strength.[15]
    • MRI Cannon (エム・アール・アイキャノン Emu āru ai kyanon?): When using Scar Transformation, Lady Black can create a huge gun that shoots powerful beams.
    • Needle Leg (ニードル・レグ Nīdoru Regu?): During Scar Transformation, Lady Black can turn one of her legs into a long blade that’s sharp enough to slash through Stigma’s attacks.
    • Triple Knee Laser (トリプル・ニールーザー Toripuru Nīrūzā?): With this attack, Lady Black shoots out two lasers from her prosthetic knees. The blasts are powerful enough to cause great damage to Stigma’s body, forcing the latter to need to regenerate.

  • Her first name possibly comes from the type of alcoholic beverage called Pilsner.
  • Her surname most likely comes from Red Cross's co founder, Henry Dunant, who was a Swiss humanitarian, businessman and social activist.
  • She likes volunteer activities and the color black.
  • In regards to her character, Sayumi Suzushiro commented:
“ My name is Sayumi Suzushiro, and I will be playing the role of Lady Black.
When I read the original work, I got the impression that while each character has their own struggles,
this lady in particular is a stoic girl who has a clear idea of ​​what a hero should be.
